A Tulsa non-profit will break ground on a new community center on Friday.
Crossover Community Impact is a faith-based non-profit. The organization says the center will be used as both a prep school and a place for families around the community to further their child's education outside of school hours.
During the day, the center will be the primary building for the Crossover Preparatory Academy all-boys school.
After school hours, it'll turn into a community center that will provide kids and adults with educational, physical and social activities and programs.
The two-story, 80,000 square foot building will have 15 classrooms for 6th to 12th-grade students as well as a science lab, library, full-court gym and weight rooms.
The center will also have finance classes, employment training and free cooking classes to support homeowners and entrepreneurs in the area.
The groundbreaking ceremony will start at 12 p.m. on Friday at the site near 36th and Peoria.
The construction is expected to be finished in the Fall of 2023.
