A nature center in Broken Arrow is cleaning up after vandals targeted their trials.

Staff at the Ray Harral Nature Center were walking the trails to assess storm damage from earlier in the week when they realized that guard rail posts that were designed to keep visitors from off-trail exploration and stop erosion had been removed.

Staff members say the posts had only been in place for a month and were part of a project created by a local eagle scout.

"We have a very strong community that loves our park, it’s a hidden gem here, and I know that we can come together and work together to keep it beautiful and healthy here,” said Nature Center Supervisor Miranda Adams.

Adams shared pictures of the damage on Facebook and was shocked by the outpour of support.

"I was sad that it happened and I was mad that somebody destroyed the hard work of someone in our community, but I am also filled with awe and inspiration from our community, from all the people that have reached out and offered to volunteer to help," said Adams.

Staff members encourage park visitors to speak up if they see suspicious activity and damage to the grounds.
