A Broken Arrow group wants to help people find the right jobs by connecting them with experts in different careers.
The organization Broken Arrow Neighbors decided to start the program because many of its clients ay they want to work, but don’t know how to get started.
The program is called "Jump Start" and will be open to people who live in Broken Arrow and Coweta.
The goal is to connect people with mentors in the industry where a participant might want to get a job. The mentors can then help with things like how to dress for a job interview, how to put together a good resume, and how to fill out an online application.
The program will also work to find solutions for anything that might stand in the way of getting a job, like having a reliable means of transportation.
Kayleigh Snider with Broken Arrow Neighbors says organizers hope this program will help people who may have never had a job before.
“Finding out what that client is passionate about, and then just showing them, really walking them through the process of getting a job- filling out the tax forms, how to look somebody in the eyes, how to shake hands, and just walking in there with confidence knowing that they can get a job,” said Snider.
Because this is a new program, Broken Arrow Neighbors is still looking for people who want to be mentors.
