GRDA: Body Recovered From Illinois River

A 21-year-old man drowned in the Illinois River on Monday, Sept. 5, The Grand River Dam Authority Police Department said.

GRDA said the man could not swim and was wading in the water at the Peavine Hollow Public Access Area at approximately 11:30 a.m., when he went under and did not resurface.

A search began for the man and his body was recovered from the water around 2 p.m., GRDA said.

GRDA said an investigation is underway but they do not suspect alcohol was involved.
