The City of Tulsa is asking non-profit organizations to apply for grants that would be used to help people with recovery efforts from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The city says it is giving out $7 million in reimbursable grants to non-profits through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and the letters of intent open on Thursday.
This is the second round of grants. The city says it gave out nearly $6.5 million last summer.
Non-profits must identify specific pandemic recovery guidelines in Tulsa to qualify for the funding.
The Community Service Council is one of the non-profits planning to apply. The organization’s '211' hotline connects people to local resources on a variety of issues.
CEO Pam Ballard says their letter of intent will focus on people who need help paying for housing, specifically those who have mortgages.
"Some mortgage companies did offer assistance but others did not so we’re really going to work with our team and say where did you see that there were individuals who were in those categories that didn’t receive as much help," said Ballard.
The first of several information sessions begin on Thursday at 10 a.m. for non-profits planning to apply for the grants.
