What could be cuter than baby animals? More than 100 have been born this week at the Tulsa State Fair.
The Birthing Center is at the Super Duty Arena on the fairgrounds. Each mama animal is bred in time to give birth at the fair so people can meet the baby animals. Inside the Aglahoma building at the fair, you'll see dozens of baby animals in their first few days of life.
It’s a chance for people to watch a live birth or welcome baby animals into the world.
"So, we have numerous volunteers, veterinarians, and vet tech students that help make this possible for us, along with many of our partners that provide the animals for us,” said Brandi Herndon, Chief Agribusiness Officer.
This week, every mother animal had her babies including 79 piglets, more than 40 chicks, 19 goats, two bottle calves, and one lamb.
Herndon says the Birthing Center is made possible by sponsors. Many of the animals will be raised by Green Country FFA Chapters.
"I think it's an awesome opportunity for Tulsans to come to the fair, and what's better than seeing the little babies in the birthing center,” Herndon said.
It’s an opportunity to see new life and nurture in a natural habitat.
