An area grocery store chain is helping fight hunger in Oklahoma this Spring.

Shoppers can visit any of Reasor's 17 locations in Eastern Oklahoma through May 9th to participate in the "Spring for Meals" fund and food drive.

The grocery store is selling $15 bags that shoppers can add to their cart with items like peanut butter, jelly, rice, canned tuna and macaroni and cheese. It will then be donated to the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.

"This will benefit people right here in our community," said Reasor's Marketing & Advertising Director Amanda Russell. "It helps the food bank with giving to the Backpack for Kids program and this will just really help fill their shelves during the springtime."

The food bank provides essential items to underserved communities through its more than 700 area feeding partners.

Russell adds there are other ways to give as well. "It is really easy to donate, all you have to do is come to a store and pick up a bag, make any donation amount at the register, or order online. We have an area on our website called "Spring for Meals" campaign, just click on that, and add a bag to your cart, or add $1, $5, or $10 to your cart online," she said.

With a little less than two weeks left to go in the food drive, Reasor's said it is still about $39,000 short of its $50,000 goal.
