A Green Country fishing guide made the catch of a lifetime after landing a rare black paddlefish.
Ryan Davison made the catch while fishing on Lake Keystone this week.
Paddlefish are usually lighter gray, but Davison's catch has a deep, dark color.
Davison owns Oklahoma Paddlefish Guide Service, so he's usually taking other people fishing, but after a trip on Monday, he went out to fish a little on his own, so he was all alone when he had to get the 60-pound catch in the boat.
Davison recorded the process and actually, he ended up in the water when the fish took off with his fishing pole.
Fisheries biologist Brad Johnston says water clarity and sunlight can impact the coloring of fish, making them darker or lighter depending on conditions. Johnston says Dvison's catch is likely melanistic, which means it has higher amounts of melanin, causing it to be darker.
Afterward, Ryan released his rare catch.
