The City of Tulsa has agreed to pay at least $1 million to a woman who sued over her arrest.
The size of the possible payout is large enough to trigger a City Council approval process that could be considered this week.
The Council will discuss the settlement privately with City of Tulsa attorneys, before possibly voting to approve or reject it in the 4 pm meeting Wednesday afternoon.Sheila Buck was arrested outside the Trump for President campaign rally in June, 2020.
Two Tulsa Police Officers removed her from inside a fenced off security zone, at the request of the campaign, because the shirt she was wearing supported "Black Lives Matter.”
She sued the City, claiming her civil rights were violated, because she was in a public area. Buck had a ticket to attend the event.
The City wouldn't comment on the settlement, except to confirm the outside mediation and the City Council discussion.
Buck was held only briefly and the only criminal charge for obstruction was later dismissed.
Her attorney, Dan Smolen, did not immediately return calls for comment.
