The City of Owasso wants to inform the public about an upcoming city sales tax renewal.
The city held a public meeting on Thursday night to discuss an upcoming city sales tax renewal.

The tax is a little more than half a cent and expires at the end of the year. The tax money is used to pay for things like public safety, road improvement projects and renovations to city parks.
"These infrastructure needs don't go away, these needs to maintain and improve our roads don't go away," said Owasso City Manager Warren Lehr.
The election will take place on August 8, the same day Tulsans will vote on the "Improve our Tulsa" tax package.

If it passes, the Owasso tax would become permanent.
City leaders say they plan to hold more public meetings to try and convince before it goes up for a vote.
