Thousands of people in midtown Tulsa are approaching a seventh day without power.
With triple digit temperatures in the forecast and still so much debris, some people said it’s like they’re in survival mode.
Samantha Partain lives near 21st and Yale, and woke up on Sunday morning to both of her cards badly damaged in the driveway.
“How do we even deal with that?,” she said.
In her more than 50 years of living in midtown, she’s never seen a storm like this. In the middle of a sixth day without power, she’s hopeful the lines of utility trucks are getting closer to restoring electricity to her home.
Across the neighborhood, Patty Mayes is weathering the aftermath of the storm on her front porch with her husband and dog.
“We’ve had a breeze every day,” said Mayes. “We have battery-powered lanterns and little fans at night.”
Mayes listened as the sirens warned of the incoming storm, which she said blew through quickly.
“The windows started rattling a little bit and I thought, 'we may be meeting Jesus tonight,'” said Mayes.
While the winds moved fast, the damage they left behind included knocked down trees and powerlines.
They are without electricity and phone reception, and it’s been that way all week.
Power crews are hopeful to have the lights back on in most homes by Saturday night.
