Merax Dockery, a Seminole Marine who died in July from carbon monoxide poisoning, was brought home Friday with military honors.

Dockery joined the Marines in 2020, after graduating from Seminole High School in 2019.

Family and friends met his casket at Will Rogers World Airport, then traveled more than an hour back to Seminole. Dozens of people lined the street as the procession made its way to the funeral home.

"It hits close to home, seeing as I worked with his mom," said Chanelle Foster. "We talked about it when he enlisted, where he was going and stuff. He was going to the same place as my nephew."

Maria Scott organized the show of support on behalf of Dockery's family.

"It just shows the love of community that Seminole has for our service members," she said. "We just wanted to let them know that we love them and he won't be forgotten."

Funeral services will be held on August 9.
