Young drivers had the opportunity to learn critical driving skills at a free course on Saturday.
Deputies with the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office goal is to train teenage drivers to avoid deadly crashes through a variety of advanced driving skills.
Those include defensive driving techniques and evasive maneuvers.
The eight-hour course also teaches drivers the safe way to maneuver corners, break during emergencies and recover from a skid.
Alana Fisher, 18, says she enjoyed the class and thinks it would help drivers of all ages.
"Between the videos that we had to watch in the class this morning and instructors really getting into like when they're in the car with you really helps a lot," Fisher said.
All 14 participants received a certificate that may help with car insurance costs.
