Tulsa prosecutors plan to upgrade murder charges against a man accused of killing a little boy whose remains have not yet been found.
The suspect, John Miles, was in court on Tuesday.
Miles is accused of killing his stepson, Orlando Hugger, and though he was charged with second-degree murder, that will become a first-degree murder charge based on new information.
Miles was arrested early in 2023 as Tulsa Police investigated a child abuse case involving a girl and a missing report about her brother, Orlando.
That also led to the arrest of the mother of the children, Camille Lewis, who prosecutors said will now testify against Miles.
That could lead to information the police have sought all along, like what happened to Orlando and whether it's possible to find his body.
Police have searched several places without finding a trace of him and detectives now believe his body was burned and disposed of in a storm drain.
Prosecutors said there is no plea deal with Lewis, the mother, who still faces charges of neglect, abuse, and second-degree murder.
