The longest-running main gallery exhibit at the Tulsa Historical Society and Museum is getting ready to close.
The "Tulsa 66: America's Main Street in the Oil Capital" exhibit has been open for nearly two years, but closes next week.
It features historic photos from Tulsa on Route 66, including landmarks and two classic cars. It also highlights some pioneers of the road like Cyrus Avery.
"One of the architects I suppose of the road was a Tulsan and he was one who advocated for it coming through Tulsa," said Director of Exhibits at Tulsa Historical Society and Museum Sophia Hurd. "Otherwise, it might not have been routed through Oklahoma at all. So Tulsa really does have a unique place in the history of Route 66."
The last day to view the exhibit is Dec. 22.
The next exhibit to open is on Feb. 2 is Tulsa in the 1920's.
