Roughly 2,000 foster kids in Tulsa County and beyond will get gifts this holiday season thanks to one organization and donations from the community.
The Fostering Joy program provides gifts to as many foster kids as possible. Children in foster care submit a wish list with up to five items they would love for Christmas.
The organization Fostering Connections then works to get a sponsor for that kid who will help purchase those gifts.
People who work for Fostering Connections said the extra work is worth the long hours.
"It's so fun at night when we are working super later. We just keep saying we are helping Santa Claus and that this is going to make a child so happy to get to open exactly what they asked for and have something to call their own," said Amy Jenson, Fostering Connections Community Engagement Director.
Fostering Connections said anyone who wants to donate gifts can still do so through early Tuesday next week.
