After nearly three months, Trav's Coats for Kids is in its final week.
Volunteers have handed out thousands of coats.
Volunteer Sharon Scott has helped with this coat drive for years.
"Well as long as they have coats, I will volunteer, until I get so old that they can't get me around anymore,” Scott said.
People at the First Baptist Church are making sure anyone who comes through their doors looking for a coat gets one to bundle from the cold.
"It's so wonderful the people who have donated,” Scott said. “Oh boy, Tulsa has been good to us. We have some beautiful, nice coats."
The kindness of strangers donating coats and Yale Cleaners cleaning them before going on the rack has helped 5,700 people stay warm this winter.
Not only do people get a coat but volunteers take their information so they can fill other needs these families might have.
"When you are a volunteer you see that there is a need and you get the satisfaction that you did something that the lord wanted you to do because I believe that God wants us to do this,” Scott said.
It’s not too late for people to stop by and grab what they need.
“I would encourage anybody, any adults that need coats because even though it's advertised as Travs Coats for Kids, we have a lot of coats for adults,” Scott said.
The last day of the coat drive is this Saturday, Jan. 6. If you need a coat, volunteers will be on-site Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
