The Tulsa Zoo is providing mentorship opportunities for teenagers.

The zoo said its program gives valuable career experience to students from 8th to 12th grade who are passionate about animals and nature.

"A majority of the kids do go on to work in either the veterinary field, conservation, wildlife, or at zoos," said Tulsa Zoo Education Manager of Visitor Programs Claire Stephenson. "But, we do have some folks that end up becoming teachers because they had the experience working with kids during our summer camp."

There are a limited number of spots available for students who qualify.

The Tulsa Zoo will hold more meetings in February for those interested in learning about the program.
