A Cleveland couple warned people to be aware of their surroundings after their car and personal items were stolen at a gym in Tulsa.

Dakota Cline and Faith Nation always thought the gym was a safe place, but now they're being more cautious.

Several days a week, Dakota and Faith work out at Crunch Fitness in Tulsa. One of their Tuesday morning trips to the gym started like any other.

"We checked in, we went to the bathroom to put our stuff up and everything like that," Cline said.

But something felt off.

"When I came out of the bathroom, the man and the woman were actually beelining it straight to the women's bathroom and I thought that was kind of weird," said Cline.

The couple's gut feeling was right. Faith said her car was stolen from the Crunch Fitness parking lot, along with everything she had in her gym locker.

"She went to the bathroom and found her keys were missing and her bag and everything, so that's when we knew, you know, the car is gone," Nation's fiancé Cline said.

With help from police and Faith's My Ford App, they located the car in just a few hours. It was filled with trash from whoever took it.

"I haven't driven my car; I don't even like to sit in it. It just gives me such an eerie feeling. It's my car, but someone else took it like it was theirs, and that definitely changes the game a little bit," Nation said.

Crunch Fitness said they've already added new safety measures.

"Every hour, we will have people going around the parking lot. The full thing, just to ensure that there's a presence from management here, making people feel safer. We've actually installed extra security cameras as well," said manager Dillon Hendricks.

Although Faith never thought this would happen to her, she hopes others will learn from her experience.

"That's you know, kind of my story on it is just pay attention more. Be aware of your surroundings all the time. That's what I've learned from it, that's for sure," said Nation.

Nation didn't have a lock on her locker, but she says that would be the first thing she would buy when she got her new debit card.
