'It's A Gut Punch': Health Center In Downtown Tulsa Closes Without Warning

A downtown Tulsa health center has shut its doors after just opening last summer.

Patients said they didn't have any warning Juno Medical Center in Greenwood was closing.

Patients said they thought Juno was the perfect fit and had been the missing piece when it came to healthcare in Tulsa. But now, they have to find new doctors.

Juno Medical Center opened in the Greenwood district in downtown Tulsa last summer, touted as an affordable, accepting center to make lives easier for patients.

“Where I was in life, I was looking for a physician who looked like me and would have a discussion about my health where there were no biases," said Gretchen Mudoga. 

Mudoga said when she met her doctor, it was an instant fit. She said she felt comfortable and that her quality of care was great.

But on Monday, she got a call that her appointment had been canceled and was told the facility was closing.

“At that point, it felt like a gut punch. Like is this happening? What's going on?" she said.

A sign was posted on the door telling patients all future appointments would be canceled.

An email sent to patients said in part, “This decision has not been made lightly” and “We are working diligently to provide assistance during this transition period” and said Juno’s Tulsa office will respond for 30 days to messages before turning them over to its headquarters in New York.

“You cannot realistically find a physician in 30 days," she said. "They're not filling prescriptions. What is going to happen to those people?”

Gretchen said she’ll start searching for a new doctor. But most of all, she just wants answers.

“It's not fun," she said. "It's a gut punch.”

Juno's email to patients lists several places that they can reach out to and find new doctors.

We reached out to Juno for a response and have not heard back as of 5 p.m. Thursday.
