The new WeStreet Ice Center is just days away from its grand opening.
What was once a department store at the Promenade Mall is now an ice rink where the Tulsa Oilers will practice and where people can have family fun.
The owner of the Oilers says it's his goal to make hockey more accessible to everyone, and this facility will help him do that.
"It's a fun thing to do with your family, you skate around, you fall, you laugh, it's just a fun thing to do," said owner Andy Scurto.
The new ice center has two ice skating rinks.
Scurto says he's seen more interest in hockey and this rink will be something lots of people can enjoy.
"We do figure skating, free skate, public skate, we do hockey, the oilers practice here, we still play at the BOK but practice here, our junior team which starts next year, will practice and play here," he said.
If you don't want to get on the ice, there's still plenty to do.
There's an arcade filled with all types of games, a game simulator, and a sports bar looking over both rinks.
Mayor G.T. Bynum says this is the perfect place for families to spend time together.
"When we are trying to make Tulsa the best city it can be, we're always thinking about the things we can bring to the table that maybe we don't have," he said.
Bynum says there's no other place like this in the region, and will not only give Tulsans something to do but also bring more people to town.
"As somebody who just loves Tulsa, it's so great to see a space that could have been an eyesore, instead repurposed into something that I think is going to be a regional entertainment destination," he said.
There will be a grand opening that's open to the public on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
