'We're Pumped About It': Tulsans Enjoy Festivities At Zink Lake

The Big Dam Party at Gathering Place has officially kicked off the Labor Day weekend.

There are events Friday through Labor Day celebrating the grand opening of the Williams Bridge and Zink Lake.

“That is really cool down there; I want to Kayak down there; it looks so fun,” said Hadley Honea.

Hadley Honea is just one of the hundreds of people enjoying the kickoff to the Big Dam Party taking their first stroll across the bridge, much like Jarred Garcia and his family.

“We heard about it on the radio, friends told us about it, and we just wanted to check it out and see what's up for Tulsa; we're pumped about it,” said Jarred Garcia. 

Talks of getting water in the Arkansas River for recreation have been happening for more than 20 years. The turnout shows Tulsans has been waiting for this. 

“I feel like this is going to be a step up. It's going to be a lot better,” said Evan Sites. 

Events go through the Labor Day weekend and wrap up Monday.
