Some Creek County residents are returning to ashes Sunday morning. The wildfires that burned since Thursday ravaged some homes while leaving others standing.

Sandy Sherrell was home with her children when the fire reached their back yard near West 51st Street and 369th West Avenue. They left with only the clothes on their backs, according to News On 6 reporter Emory Bryan.

As they tried to make their escape, fire surrounded their car. They were rescued by a game warden, Sherrell said.

Early Sunday, the Sherrells returned to find everything gone - even a children's play set is melted in the front yard.
