Tulsa Man Drowns In Private Pond In Nowata County

Oklahoma Highway Patrol say a man has died after he drowned in a private pond near East 270 Rd. in Nowata County.

Troopers 61-year old Stephen Goforth of Tulsa was attempting to clear debris from a spillway pipe around 8:15 Friday night. They say Goforth went underwater and was then swept into the pipe and unable to come back up.

Troopers say Goforth was't wearing a life jacket.
