Tulsa Police said the missing 13-year-old girl, Mary Diaz was found in a field near her house at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Police said Diaz wandered away from her yard on E Marshall Street between Memorial and Mingo around 10 p.m. Tuesday night, and had been upset after an argument with her parents.
The Diaz family was overjoyed when they got the call that their missing daughter had been found safe and was on her way home, and when she arrived there were plenty of hugs to go around. Her parents say she has learning disabilities that make it difficult for her to know directions, so she likely wasn’t able to remember how to get home.
Thankful for a happy ending, Mary’s father, Jose Diaz, said “It’s a lot better than I expected because all the bad things that go through the news, what’s been happening around the world, you never expect good things after seeing so many bad things happening.”
The family says they are so thankful for the Tulsa Police Department and all the neighbors that helped search because without them, their daughter may not be home safe today.
