The Professional Bull Riders 2020 tour is coming to the BOK Center this weekend It will be the first big event that the arena has held in months.
BOK Center officials said it takes a lot of work to get ready for the event including 750 tons of dirt to transform the BOK Center into a bull-riding arena.
This event marks the 16th year in a row for the PBR to come to Tulsa. The event features the top 35 bull riders in the world going up against each other.
The PBR said it has been working with the Tulsa Health Department and CDC to make sure fans, staff and bull riders stay safe. The BOK arena will only be filled to 50% capacity. All fans, staff and competitors will have to wear face masks and fans will be seated in pods to help with physical distancing and to cut down on fan crossover when coming and going from their seats.
Oklahoma's Own Ryan Dirteater will also be making his return to the arena. He was injured during Tulsa's PBR last year when a bull stepped on him leading to collapsed lung, broken ribs and a lacerated liver. His return this weekend does come with a bittersweet twist as it will be his last premier series event in front of his home state crowd. Dirteater announced that he will be retiring at the end of the year.
Round one gets underway at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday.
Round two and the championship are set for Sunday at 1:45 p.m.
