Some of our Oklahoma airmen and women with the Tulsa Air National Guard 138th Fighter Wing are home safely after a North American mission kept them away from their families during the holidays.
The homecoming made for the perfect birthday surprise for the son of Sand Springs airman Tech Sergeant Mike Johnson.
Sgt. Johnson had been away for 90 days, stationed in Savannah, Georgia. His return home came a few days earlier than planned, which fell his son, Ethan’s 9th birthday.
As soon as Johnson’s wife Becca learned the homecoming date had been pushed up, she started a mission of her own… to surprise the birthday boy and his two younger brothers.
Becca wrapped up a big package and Johnson hid under it for their son to open on his birthday.
Cell phone video captured every special moment. As soon as they pulled the box up, all three boys ran to give their dad a big hug. They were all shocked to see him, especially the Johnson's youngest, 2-year-old Landon.
“Daddy,” Landon screamed. “Daddy’s here now!”
The 138th Fighter Wing returned January 2 after serving a mission that focused on aerial defense of North America during the 2020 presidential election.
