A family of five in McAlester struggles to find a place to live after a fire burned down their home.
“I have three beautiful kids, so unexpected, you can’t prepare for it,” Tiffany Houston said.
Tiffany, her husband, Tommy, and their three children, Hannah, Madison, and Reginald are left with nothing from last Thursday’s fire.
“We still got each other, that’s the main thing,” Tommy Houston said.
The family left their McAlester home that evening to go to the store, but when they returned, Tommy said they were in utter shock at what they saw.
“The whole road was in flames, and so I just ran up and started beating on houses here to get everyone out of the house,” Tommy said.
The fire was caused by a space heater in the hallway. Thankfully, firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to nearby homes. Tommy said they did save their dog, but everything else had to be left behind. The generosity of family and friends is what Tiffany said is keeping their heads up, like clothes, food, and even a motel room have been provided until they can find another home.
Tiffany said they hope to find a place to rent, big enough for the family.
“Anybody that would reach out to our family would greatly appreciate it,” Tiffany said.
