An overnight water main break has closed Mingo at 46th Street North to all traffic.
The closed area is only bout 20 yards long between the 46th and Mingo intersection and the Ramsey business building. Even though no one is supposed to go through a driver moved road closure signs around 6:30 a.m. allowing several cars to cut through.
Crews say around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning they were called to 46th St. N and Mingo for a 12-inch line break. Water has been covering the street for several hours and in some spots, it looks to be deep, which is what is closed Mingo to all through traffic. As of 4 a.m., crews have not come out to begin the repairs yet but say they expect to start sometime Tuesday morning. They say there is still some initial surveying to do before they can start digging due to needing to get the proper information on what is underground in the area.
They do expect Mingo to be closed for the rest of the morning, but the biggest issue at hand with this is that the area is a well-known alternate to taking Hwy 169 in the mornings.
If you normally take Mingo in the morning, make sure to take Hwy 169 on Tuesday morning instead because this spot is likely going to be congested for several hours.
