Friday, July 2nd 2021, 8:24 am

There are plenty of events happening this weekend to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday across Green Country, perfect for a weekend of family fun. The list of many of those events is listed below, although there may be others in your local community not listed. The information for these events is from the entity’s websites, Facebook pages, and news releases.

Friday, July 2:

Bixby Freedom Celebration:

The Bridge Church will once again present the Bixby Freedom Celebration on July 2, at Bentley Park Sports Complex, 148th & Memorial. In 2015, the Bridge Church introduced the Bixby Freedom Celebration event as a way to bless the community of Bixby. They continue that theme with a focus on giving. 2020 was a rough year for many in our community, especially those who lost jobs and/or income. We're taking the opportunity to use the Bixby Freedom Celebration as a way to raise awareness and allow the community to give to those in need. Booths will be set up for donations of canned foods, sleeping bags, clothing, and cash. Building stronger, healthy communities is the goal, by bringing neighbors and the community together through giving.

The 7th Annual Bixby Freedom Celebration is a free, community-wide event, full of patriotism and family-friendly fun. You will find a variety of food vendors, representation of several military branches, and much more. A patriotic program will incorporate a public swearing-in ceremony of new military recruits. The 2021 Bixby Freedom Celebration is expected to bring in at least 20,000 attendees.

Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, family, frisbees, and friends to the Bentley Park Sports Complex on Friday, July 2, 2021. Gates open at 7:00. The patriotic program is set to start at 8:45 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9:45 p.m. Follow us on Facebook for updates!
