Public Invited To Give Input On Plans For New Broken Arrow Park

Broken Arrow residents have the chance to learn more about the city’s master plan for a new park and offer feedback on what they would like to see. Elam Park will be located on the southwest side of town near Aspen Creek Elementary school.

The park was approved by voters in 2018 and phase one, consisting mostly of infrastructure, is expected to be completed by 2024. At Thursday night’s meeting, leaders will present a master plan, which calls for future additions of a skatepark, splash pad and tennis and basketball courts, in addition to other amenities.

The project for the master plan is estimated to cost more than $50 million. This will be time for members of the community to give their two cents on the plan.

The outcome of Thursday’s meeting will be presented to the city council for authorization. Whatever the council authorizes would be put on another bond vote in 2028, according to Aaron McColloch, City of Broken Arrow.

The park is the latest area of development in Broken Arrow following attention to the Rose District and New Orleans Square in recent years.

“It’s just really important for our citizens to be able to work, live and play here in Broken Arrow,” said McColloch. “This is just another opportunity to keep them home.”

Thursday’s meeting is open to the public and will take place at Aspen Creek Elementary school. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.
