The Red Cross is working to help people across the state impacted by Sunday night’s storms, including in Coweta where the National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado was on the ground. The organization will be offering different services to anyone who needs help.
Johnnie Munn, a disaster manager for Red Cross overseeing Oklahoma and Kansas, told News On 6 their goal is to make sure families are OK and to help with damage assessment.
Munn said the organization will be working with storm victims on their cases and will use its partners to help them with financial needs.
“We’ve got disaster health services if they need medications, we also have mental health if they need counseling or just want to talk to somebody,” said Munn. “We try to be the one-stop-shop.”
Munn also said they are monitoring the chance for additional storms this week and are encouraging everyone to stay aware. Anyone who needs assistance can call 1-800-RedCross.
