Walmart opened its first vision center in Tulsa County on Monday.
A ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony for "The Vision Center" was held at the location near East 121st Street South and South Elm in Broken Arrow. The center is a result of a change to Oklahoma law that allows optometrists to practice in big-box stores like Walmart.
"In the future, we intend to have an eye doctor available that will be independent, so you'll be able to come in and make an appointment and visit an eye doctor for all your eye care needs as well," said James Jones with Walmart .
This is the first Walmart Vision Center open in the Tulsa area, there are three open in Oklahoma City.
