The community is showing love for a North Tulsa Pastor whose family is recovering from a car accident.
Friends and family showed up to surprise the Pastor's son by helping to build a fence he was working on before the wreck.
It has been one week since 15-year-old Lonnie Beach got out of the hospital.
He was in a car accident with four members of his family last week.
He broke two bones in his neck, which is causing some mobility issues in his hands.
Lonnie's dad is a Pastor at Wesley Chapel and the Executive Director of a program called YouthWorks.
"My wife and kids thought that Lonnie died in the accident," said Pastor Chris.
"This is the YouthWorks Ranch. It is for foster kids. We have had 25 children in our house over the years and it's also for the kids of North Tulsa to learn how to take care of animals, learn different trades," said Pastor Chris.
The day before the accident Lonnie was working on a fence to keep the YouthWorks animals from wandering through the property.
"It is peaceful for me, makes me happy," said Lonnie.
"In the hospital he kept saying, 'I have got to finish the fence! I have got to finish the fence!' I was like, 'Lonnie, it is okay buddy!'" said Pastor Chris.
His mom decided to throw Lonnie a fence building party.
"We invited his friends and anybody out there and over 40 people showed up," said Pastor Chris.
"It made me feel loved. It made me know a lot of people care about me," said Lonnie.
The project isn't completely done yet, but the volunteers made some major progress.
"We have had hundreds of people praying for us, for Lonnie, checking in, people bringing meals. It has been incredible," said Pastor Chris.
If you know Pastor Chris, then you know he has never been in this job for recognition.
Kindness is a cyclical thing though.
When you pass it out, it has a funny way of coming back to you.
"God just did some amazing stuff," said Pastor Chris.
If you would like to help the family finish the fence, you can stop by YouthWorks Ranch on January 24 from 10-6 or January 29 from 10-6.
