Tulsa's Rent Assistance Program To Stop Accepting New Applicants

The City of Tulsa's rental assistance program will stop accepting new applications this weekend.

Restore Hope Ministries will suspend new applications for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program on Sunday.

The program provides rental and utility assistance to people in need.

So far, the program has distributed more than $30 million in funds.

Program leaders say they are stopping applications to make sure everyone who has applied is taken care of.

Restore Hope says it will continue to process all current applications until all the funds have been expended.

Since May of 2020, Restore Hope says it has helped more than 7,400 Tulsa County households and more than 3,700 landlords during the pandemic.

Jeff Jaynes with Restore Hope says they are hoping to help more people in the future.

"The word has gotten out there," Jaynes said. "We received over 32,000 applications for this program. In fact, our call center was saying that a lot of people from all over the place are calling us to ask to get help. So, we are hopeful for that."

Restore Hope says there are still options for families needing assistance.
