Multiple Agencies Investigating Death Of 21-Year-Old In Haskell County

Multiple agencies in Haskell County are investigating the death of a 21-year-old man on Monday.

The Haskell County sheriff's office said the victim, Harley Wokaty, was found dead in his driveway when a family member came to pick him up from work. Sheriff Tim Turner said it's the first homicide in years - and he has strong words for the person responsible.

"If the suspect's watching, know that we're coming for you. Know that we're coming for you and we're going to seek justice for this family and we're going to seek justice for Mr. Wokaty," he said.

District Attorney Chuck Sullivan joined Sheriff Turner to give a briefing on the homicide investigation on Monday afternoon.

"As the sheriff of Haskell County, we first want to send out prayers and condolences to the victim's family," Turner said.

They say dispatchers got the call from one of Wokaty's family members around 6:30 a.m. on February 28.

"We're working very diligently with our federal partners along with our state partners," Turner said.

Sullivan said for now - Haskell County is taking the lead on the investigation.

"Our approach is that we are going to investigate it and plan on working it just like it's a state case," Sullivan said.

Sheriff Turner did not say how the victim died - and did not want to reveal possible suspects yet until deputies have made arrests.

The HCSO is working on the investigation alongside the Choctaw Nation Tribe Officers, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
