A Tulsa homeowner is thankful after police said an alert neighbor saw two men break into her home and called for help. Bret Young and Austin Potter are behind bars facing charges for second degree burglary and resisting arrest, according to police.

The victim didn't want to go on camera but told us she's grateful to police, and neighbors like Judy Brown who serve as an extra set of eyes and ears.

"It was really scary at first," said Judy Brown.

Brown said her friend called around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, telling her something suspicious was happening two houses down.

"She said, 'Would you mind going over and checking on my house,' so I went into her backyard. The back of her shed was broke. The window was broke out," said Brown.

Police said another one of Brown's neighbors saw two men break into the victim's backyard and disappear near the back door.

"I kept kind of calm with her cause I knew she was driving, and I didn't want anything to happen to her," said Brown. Brown said she was overcome with fear as she realized what was happening.

"I told her, I do believe you have company," said Brown. "I wanted to get out of her backyard because I knew that somebody was back there." So, she ran. "And the cops came from everywhere," said Brown.

Police said as they went inside the victim's home near 21st and 101st East Avenue Bret Young and Austin Potter ran out the back.

Officers said they chased Young and Potter briefly before arresting them.

"I'm sick of the neighborhood. It was fantastic. This was the best neighborhood. Everybody was friends until about three years ago. My cars been broke into like I'd say 20 times," said Brown.

Police found stolen items in the suspects' vehicle and said Young admitted to stealing stuff from inside the victim's home.

"I'm glad you're where you're at. If you're in jail, I hope that's where you're at. And stop. I mean, quit. We've worked for our money. And we're really not in the... able to give a lot out, you know," said Brown.

Police said Young is Native American and his case will be handled by federal authorities.
