The Broken Arrow Police Department is recruiting for its next academy class.
BAPD says it wants to address its staffing shortage, which it says hasn't been as overwhelming as other departments.
Broken Arrow Police say they've been understaffed, but are currently only down less than 10 officers.
Chris Walker with the Broken Arrow Police Department says they are expecting about 150 to 250 applicants for the academy and are confident they can fill the spots with qualified candidates.
Walker says the department is picky with who it hires and, despite being down officers, Walker says the department would rather keep it that way to maintain that BAPD standard.
“We're not necessarily looking for previous officers...it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things because we want to train you the Broken Arrow way so that you serve our citizens the way we teach you,” Walker said.
Applications for Broken Arrow's Police Academy are open through June 30th.
