An Oklahoma man is observing Good Friday in a unique way. A News On 6 crew spotted the man carrying a cross in Tulsa Friday morning and learned he's making a five and a half hour trek from Bixby to Greenwood.
Carvell Wrenn said he's from Oklahoma City but is moving here to Tulsa. He said carrying the cross is part of his way of transitioning to living in Green Country.
"I know a lot of people probably won't go to church or might not make it to church, but I wanted them to just visually see what it looks like to carry a cross,” said Wrenn.
Wrenn started his journey at Transformation Church in Bixby, then headed to the Sanctuary Evangelistic Center, north of Downtown on Apache.
Wrenn said he hopes the cross will be a light to people along his route.
"A lot of people are inspired and encouraged and so I just wanted to remind people that Jesus died for us but he also got back up. So that's what this season is about,” said Wrenn.
Wrenn said when he gets to downtown Tulsa, he plans to carry the cross through Greenwood. We asked him what he plans to do at the end of his trip.
"I am just going to put the cross up and pray at the foot of the cross and then go home,” said Wrenn.
