Fire Chief Warns Against Open Burns As Tulsans Clean Up After Intense Storm

The Tulsa Fire Department says a lot of people are burning tree limbs on their property.

The Tulsa Fire Department says a lot of people are burning tree limbs on their property.

Tulsa Fire Chief Michael Baker says open burns are a safety hazard and anyone caught doing it will be fined.

"Open burning of material that has come off fallen trees and damaged lines are not authorized to be burned in your yard. There's no burning. We are not in a condition at all at any time within the city that you can do that," said Chief Baker.

The city has a green waste disposal site open at North 89th and East Latimer until 7 p.m. each evening.
