Miss Jackson’s, a luxury department store, closed in 2016, but one gift from the store was never opened.
It was purchased 50 years ago on November 17, 1973.
The 4 by 5 box, wrapped in an iconic Miss Jackson ribbon, held answers only known by people who are no longer with us.
"It was found this summer in my late mother's garage. We initially thought that it was going to be a wedding gift and when we found out, when we looked at the date and the package was actually from 1973, which was after they, I think, they had separated,” Bronwen Llewellyn said.
Llewellyn has spent months waiting to open the gift, purchased by her late father, Dr. Thomas Llewellyn.
She guessed what could be inside.
"I thought it might be some type of a scarf based on who my mother was,” Llewellyn said.
It created a priceless moment of what may be the final ribbon and paper from Miss Jackson's, unopened, and the last unknown story of her parents.
She unwrapped the gift in Hicks Brunson, an eyewear store that has stood in Utica Square since 1952. Inside was a Wedgwood China plate with the London tower in pristine condition.
Llewellyn doesn't know what she will do with the plate but plans on having it on display for the holidays.
