'We’re Thankful That God Brought Her To Us': Woman Killed In Okmulgee Apartment Fire Remembered By Loved Ones

Meghan Cash’s 2 sisters and her son Zain want to keep her memory alive.

“My youngest one reminds me of her. She always called her her mini-me,” her sister Courtney Warren said.

Meghan died in an apartment fire in Okmulgee last Wednesday. 7 people were inside when the fire broke out. It claimed the lives of the 3 people on the top floor, including Meghan.

"She was screaming for help,” her other sister Caitlyn Sumka said.

Most of her belongings remained intact after the fire.

“Her keys to her car were actually not damaged; they still work. A bunch of different things in this one bag, and we found it inside the apartment,” Courtney said.

But her sisters say she shouldn’t have been at the apartment in the first place.

“We just keep finding more things about why she shouldn’t have been there and how she tried to get away, and that makes me angry,” said Courtney.

They say Meghan was in an abusive relationship, and she was with her boyfriend at the apartment. They wish she had stayed away from him and hope others in a similar situation get away too.

“Please ask for help. We were willing to help her, and she knew that. She knew we were trying to get her away," Courtney said.

“I wish we could say we want closure that we will never have. Pretty much, we just want to say we’re thankful that God brought her to us, and if it was her time, I wish it wouldn't have been her time that way,” said Caitlyn.

Meghan's family is planning a memorial service within the coming weeks, and they’re asking anyone who wishes to come to wear blue, Meghan's favorite color.
