Some local students are helping improve startup companies in Green Country.
Four startup companies participated in the 36 Degrees North and Kidvation Global program called “The Innovation Challenge.”
The Innovation Challenge gave fifth grade students at Broken Arrow Public Schools a chance to solve real world problems these companies are facing.
News On 6 spoke with one of the companies that participated, the media company Exum Instruments.
The organization is working to develop a new mass spectrometer that can analyze anything solid to measure what’s inside of it.
During the semester, the fifth graders on the team worked to determine what item the organization should analyze.
"Essentially being able to share with them at a high level what we do, and allowing their minds to go wild with what they might be able to fix in the world. They came up with all sorts of stuff that I never thought of," said Josh Ulla, Chief Development Officer at Exum Instruments.
Josh said he’s hoping this opens kids eyes to the many career opportunities beyond traditional routes. And that it may spark the interest of creating their own startups.
