Tulsa’s main recycling depot, operated by the Metropolitan Environmental Trust, must move, and the agency does not yet have a new location identified.
The Central Depot, at 35th and Sheridan, opened 23 years ago on land owned and provided rent free by PSO.
The company needs the property cleared for a planned expansion of the adjacent substation.
“We have to be off the property at the end of May, so sometime in the spring we'll be moving to a new location,” Bobby Schultz, the Executive Director of the MET, said.
The MET has representatives of the County and City on its board, and both representatives said they'll ask the respective governments about possible new locations the MET might use.
The agency would like another central spot—rent free if possible—for the Central Depot.
