Tulsans Brave The Cold Weather For A Chance To Sled In The Snow

Many schools across Green Country are closed because of the holiday and winter weather, so kids are trading in their notebooks and pencils for their sleds and snow tubes.

It's far from a Winter Wonderland, but the thin layer of powdery snow is enough for BJ Dilibero and his son Cole.

“Not as much snow as we would've liked, but we are making the best of it,” BJ Dilibero said.

Up and down, the two traveled the hill perfect for sledding near 111th and Yale.

It's tiring getting to the top, but the trip down makes it worthwhile.

"Being here in Tulsa, we get a lot of ice, not as much snow these days, so it's good to take advantage of it whenever it does come around and anything to get the kids away from the TVs and the tablets and stuff like that,” BJ Dilibero said.

But BJ is also enjoying getting away from the office and letting his inner child out.

In fact, this isn't his first time at this sledding oasis.

"I have been sledding here since the mid-90s,” BJ Dilibero said. “It's not the exact kind of snow we wanted, and the sled popped on the first round down, we don't care. He's just happy to be out here to have some fun in the snow on a day off from school."

After nearly two dozen rounds down the hill and a snowball fight, the two decided to call it for the day.

The snow may melt, but the memories made between this father and son will last a lifetime.
