An Okmulgee first grade class is looking to accomplish a heartfelt goal for the month of February.
Shirlana Harbin's first grade class at Okmulgee Primary is trying to spread love through their Hearts Across the World project to all 50 states.
The students hope to get a postcard or a letter from each of the states by Valentine's Day.
Along with making new friends, Mrs. Harbin hopes her students learn about new places.
"Dive into that state, dive into that country,” Harbin said. “Whether it's the food or they have some famous locations, famous people. One of my little ones just said NFL teams, and so we are going to dive into it."
Harbin is asking for encouraging words to uplift her kids, and in return, the kids will send a letter back.
“It takes just one to spread love in the community or in the world, and a small class here in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, is able to touch as many lives and as many countries as they can just with this one project,” Harbin said.
This one project will pour love into everyone involved.
If you’re interested in sending a postcard, Harbin asks you to send it to the school at 1003 N Okmulgee Ave, Okmulgee, OK 74447.
