The below-freezing temperatures are gone for now, but there are plenty of potholes around the area left behind.
The City of Tulsa has crews working to take care of them, but they need your help to find the location of the potholes.
A drive to work quickly became more of an obstacle course than a smooth ride for Jennifer Curley.
“I was one of four employees that hit that pothole,” said Curley, about a big pothole near Pine and Utica. “It felt like a 24-inch drop.”
Curley had to leave her car behind and walk six blocks after one of her front tires fell victim to the pothole. The foggy weather didn’t do her any favors.
“It’s super hard to see,” she said. “It’s very dark, the ground is wet and it’s dense. You could not see the depth of those potholes.”
The City of Tulsa has already patched up the pothole. Public Works manager Tim McCorkell said crews try to get potholes fixed within an hour of hearing about them.
“We do have crews that are running daily, so anytime a report comes in, we’ll radio that out to the closest crew in the area,” McCorkell said.
McCorkell says potholes start popping up because of drastic temperature changes, like the arctic blast we’ve just experienced.
Potholes can be reported by dialing 311 or using the Tulsa311 app.
McCorkell asks someone making a report to use a specific address.
