Project To Expand Section Of I-44 On Schedule, Officials Say

There's an update on the big road work project along I-44 near 165th East Avenue.

An ODOT spokesperson says the project is still on schedule and should be finished later this summer.

Right now, they say crews are working on the eastbound lanes and ramps while westbound traffic is already on a new section of pavement. 

News On 6 told you about plans to expand this part of I-44 from four lanes to eight between 165th and 193rd East Avenue.

Crews started work on the project toward the end of last summer.

ODOT says COVID-19 hasn’t slowed down its workers since they’re considered essential; so, they’ve been working throughout the pandemic.
