Before last Friday, the Tulsa Police Department had just two unsolved homicides cases for the whole year, now they have five.

The previous cases are two murders that happened at the beginning of the year.

TPD's homicide unit has a near 100% solve rate, but detectives say every year, they have a couple cases that are really challenging.

In February, police say a Tulsa father of three was shot and killed during a robbery. Anthony Washington was killed while walking through the Waterside Apartment complex near 17th and Jackson with his best friend. Police say the suspect was a man dressed in all black with a mask who robbed them, then shot Washington.

Just weeks later, in March, 51-year-old Galen Landrum was stabbed to death at the Sugarberry Apartments near 61st and Garnett, and detectives say they need the community to come forward.

"It is extremely important to us. CrimeStoppers, it has made cases for us, it has helped put us in the right direction a lot of times, it has given us witnesses we didn't know existed. Crimestoppers has been huge for us and right now that's where we have a lot of hope for these two cases," said Lt. Brandon Watkin, Tulsa Police.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (918)-596 COPS. Callers can leave an anonymous tip and there could be a cash reward.
