Tulsa Transit wants people to know about the public transportation options available around town.
As part of “Dump the Pump Day,” Tulsa Transit teamed up with other community groups to encourage the use of public buses.
“The goal is to educate the public on what we have available for them for public transportation and how to get them from A to B wherever they are in the city,” said BreAnna Hall, Tulsa Transit.
This year’s event took place at the Gathering Place, moving from Downtown Tulsa’s Denver Ave. bus station. This Machine, a bicycle-share non-profit, was also in attendance for this year’s event to promote alternative transportation.
“Tulsa is a great city to cycle in,” said Eric Meier, This Machine. “We’ve got a lot of trails, a lot of bike lanes throughout the city.”
Tulsa Transit offered free fares on all of its routes on Thursday to encourage people to use public transportation.
